Rockbridge Barbell

Problem:

The brand simply didn’t exist yet! Red Dowdell was about to start his own training gym, after years of experience working with professional sports teams like the Washington Nationals and D.C. United.

He wanted to bring his passion and level of expertise to the local Rockbridge Virginia county, without excluding or intimidating the prospective local clientele.

Solution:

I helped build the brand from the ground up, taking into consideration that simplicity and modernity would be crucial in order to make a strong statement amidst local competition.

The end result is an ode to the incredible people behind this business that embrace imperfections, celebrate strength, and value the importance of participating in/building up their community.

Mood board with mainly black and white imagery of working out, teams, equipment, etc.

It all started with a mood board.

Well, several actually. But this one led the way for us!

Next step,

Logo sketching. And lots of it.

Fast forward a bunch…

And we have a brand bible, a functioning website, and a happy client. Boom.

Since its foundation in 2020, Rockbridge Barbell has already outgrown its initial location. They’ve formed successful partnerships with other small businesses in the area, they’ve been able to hire on more employees, and have helped many local clients feel welcome and empowered in their fitness journey. It’s safe to say business is going well.

And just to add the cherry on top: Rockbridge Barbell gym members have been begging for more merch because they love the branding so much. I certainly love to hear that!
